THE FRIENDSHIP FOREST
 "May our friendships grow!"

On July 11, 1995 we planted a tree native to Turkey in honor of the visiting ambassadors from Izmir, Turkey. That tree, a Carob, or St. John's Bread, was the beginning of our Friendship Forest. For each of these visiting clubs from other countries, we have planted another tree that would flourish in their homeland. We view the Forest as a living, growing symbol of friendship among nation

The Friendship Forest is located in:

    Emma Prusch Farm Park
647 South King Road near Story Road
    San Jose, California 95116

Each tree we plant is identified by a plaque engraved with the FFSFBA club logo and the following information:

 - the date of the planting,

 - the botanical and common name of the tree,

 - the honoree club,

 - and the slogan, “May our friendships grow!”

Club member David Gustavson crafted these plaques from Brazilian Ipe wood and engraved them by laser.

In spite of losing several trees from multiple causes, we are proud of the 20 trees that survive to represent our many friends around the world and to promote the cause of international peace.
