THE FRIENDSHIP FOREST

On July 11, 1995 we planted a tree native to Turkey in honor of the ambassadors from Izmir, Turkey, who were visiting our club. That tree, a Carob, or St. John's Bread, was the beginning of our Friendship Forest, which has grown larger every year since then. Each visiting exchange group has helped us plant another tree that is typical of their homeland. We view the Forest as a living, growing symbol of friendship among nations.

The Friendship Forest is located in:

Emma Prusch Farm Park
647 South King Road near Story Road
    San Jose, California 95116

For each inbound exchange, we plant a tree in our Friendship Forest in their honor.

Each tree we plant is identified by a plaque stating that the tree is:
"planted in honor of the visit to the San Francisco Bay Area of the [inbound club's name]
chapter of the Friendship Force. May our friendship grow!"
